Toolbox system tray icon and behavior on Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon
The toolbox icon does not show in the system tray. There is a space for it, but no icon. when I click on the space in the system tray that represents the Toolbox, the toolbox does not open. Instead, a menu opens with an option to open the toolbox. This behavior is different then it is on my other Mint PCs. Has anyone had experience with this?

I've got this issue too, on Arch Linux with Cinnamon. Arch with XFCE, Gnome and Plasma do not have the issue -- the system tray icon for toolbox is present on those desktop environments.
We are working on this issue to introduce the fix in the coming Toolbox update (on several weeks or so).
I have this issue also.
The icon doesn't show up even if the logs seem to show that the Toolbox is running.
Has it been fixed yet?
On a fresh Linux Mint XFCE install, the toolbox icon shows but when click on it the Toolbox window doesn't appear.
Using the Live CD session it worked though.
Same issue. No icon in system tray on Ubuntu 18.04 Cinnamon 3.6.7
I have had this issue on Fedora running Cinnamon for the last several toolbox updates. If I run the toolbox application from the menu, the toolbox application pops up in the proper location over the system tray, and I can interact with it as you would expect - I can launch tools and projects from it. The window does not disappear, though, and the icon never appears in the system tray. I have to close the toolbox window with the close button.
What's weird though, is that if there is an update to the toolbox program everything works properly (icon in the system tray, toolbox application windows expanding and closing when clicking on the icon) after the installation completes and until I reboot.
The toolbox programs are started at startup and there a jetbrains-toolbox filesystem mounted. Everything seems OK except the system tray icon. Irritating, not a show stopper.
Fedora 28 - Cinnamon 3.8.1
Every time I start the Toolbox in my Linux Mint, Cinnamon crashes.
It also crashes after update of every application during "Update all".
Also having the issue with Toolbox crashing Cinnamon 3.6.7 on Linux Mint 18.3 every time it launches.
Here's what I'm seeing in .xsession-errors:

Same here, but on Gnome. Toolbox icon won't display after logging in. I have to open the app, quit and launch it again – only then I get the menubar icon.
Experiencing the same on Ubuntu-LTS, Gnome, issue appeared after switching from X-windows server to Wayland.
Linux Mint running Gnome Shell. Same issue. If I quit the app and start it manually the icon appears.
Same issue. No icon in system tray on Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon 3.6.7 (toolbox 1.17.6802).
Same here. It started recently (Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon with toolbox 1.17.6802
It started yesterday to me.
EDIT: Confirmed. Version 1.16.6319 works ok and shows the system tray icon. I use this a lot, so will freeze autoupdates for the moment.
Same issue. No icon in system tray.
Toolbox App 1.17.6802, (Linux 5.6.6-200.fc31.x86_64)
Operating System: Fedora 31
KDE Plasma Version: 5.17.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0
Qt Version: 5.13.2
Kernel Version: 5.6.6-200.fc31.x86_64
OS Type: 64-bit
Same issue. The icon just won't show up, no matter what I do. It used to work with Toolbox App 1.6.x.
I can see that toolbox is running when I search for processes even after closing the popup. Yet no icon appears in the "tray" (using gnome exension "Tray Icons")
Environment:
* Linux Mint 19.3, 64-bit
* Kernel 5.3.0-46-generic #38~18.04.1-Ubuntu SMP
* Gnome 3.28.2 with extension Tray Icons
* Toolbox App 1.17.6802
Here's the logs that i aggregated during startup of Toolbox App:
HTH
I'm having the same problem on Linux Mint 19.3 Mate
same problem here, Ubuntu Mate 20.04, no toolbox icon in the systray
please JetBrains, release a quick fix (and do a little bit more testing ;-)
Here my console output, happens also with the latest toolbox version, 1.17.6856
more 14 days... please hot fix... :-/
Same problem here with Linux Mint 19.3 Tricia, but it was working until two or three weeks ago. I can't remember if it was due to any Toolbox update.
Same here. I'm using the v1.17.6856 on ubuntu 20.04 and I'm getting the following errors in the log:
1.17.6856 15267 2020-05-18 08:25:35.462 ERROR Zzk Failed to create event log file
1.17.6856 15267 2020-05-18 08:25:35.795 ERROR Zj9 Failed to create tray icon
Ok. Fixed in version 1.17.7005 (Ubuntu, Mint 19 Tricia).
Many thanks!!! :-)
Can confirm, issue seems to be solved with version 1.17.7005 (Mint 19.3).
Thank you :)
seems still not to work on Ubuntu Mate 20.04
It seems solved on Linux Mint 19.3 Tricia
Thanks!
Was fixed, but seems broken again today?
I experienced a regression in Linux Minut 20.x Ulyanna with Tool Box v1.17.7139
:-/
Same problem here :(
I confirm that downgrading to 1.16.6319 fixes the issue.
I will use this version in the meantime.
EDIT: no luck, 1.16.x is too old and always auto-upgrade, hence the issue shows up again.
