Toolbox 1.7.3593 crash on Windows 10

Hi

After updating to Toolbox version 1.7.3593 the app crashes as soon as it tries to open the application window. In the logs there is no OpenGL error. It just stops working and Win10 shows a windows informing me that the application has crashed.

The last lines in the log are the ones detecting the screen setup. Everything looks fine there. As I understand it, there where changes to fix an OpenGL bug with 1.7. Could this be related

Cheers

Any ideas what could be the cause? I also tried the trick with the OpenGL related environment variable.

Hello Michael,

Please try adding then following env variable: JETBRAINS_TOOLBOX_FORCE_SOFTWARE_OPEN_GL  with value 1.

What variable have you tried? The one I mentioned above?

No, I tried the opposite of the one you mentioned: JETBRAINS_TOOLBOX_NO_SOFTWARE_OPEN_GL. It was mentioned in various discussions on this forums. I think it does the opposite of the one you proposed.

I tried it with your idea and it works. Thanks a lot. Somehow my display driver does not like the OpenGL stuff which seems to be going on.

Glad to hear it helped you. What about your driver, could you please clarify its version as well as video card version?

Yeah, I am glad, that this works. I am working on a cooperate laptop with integrated Intel HD Graphics 520. Because of access restrictions, I cannot access the driver information... sorry to be not more helpful.

Hi. Sorry to barge in here :) but I had exactly the same problems as Michael (started a couple of days ago - probably after that update). Setting the JETBRAINS_TOOLBOX_NO_SOFTWARE_OPEN_GL to 1 helped me too. Thanks for that.

I too am using a corporate laptop. It has an integrated Intel HD Graphics 4400 card, and I am using driver version 10.18.14.4578.

Let me know if I can help you any further with troubleshooting this.

Regards,

Terje M

Chiming in here -- same problem, but sporadic (it worked fine yesterday, but not today).  Applying the environment variable to force OpenGL got it working.  This is relatively recent (though not sure when it started).

Lenovo P50 with Quadro M1000M discrete graphics, 10.18.13.5488 driver from 3/22/2016.

EDIT:  Running Windows 7.
