Unable to update Android Studio (MacOS: 14.2.1 (23C71))
For the past few AS updates, I have been unable to apply the update directly from Toolbox. The solution was to always uninstall and reinstall as mention in this post "How to update a tool if "The installation path is not writable" error is shown?". I have also tried the second solution which is to make the directory readable. The third solution (provided in the comments) is to allow FULL disk access to Toolbox, which seems to work for others but I haven't tried it, as I am uncomfortable for obvious reasons.
At first I had all tools installed to the Application folder, and I assumed Toolbox had limited access to that folder. As a result I install my Toolbox apps to a specific dev directory. As you can see from my screen shots below, I am still unable to update AS but I am able to update Fleet.
Installed in same Directory:
Confirmation of Installation Path AS (1):
Confirmation of Installation Path Fleet (2):

Updates to apply:

Error message:
From the reported error, clearly it shouldn't be the case where one tool can be updated but the other cannot due to path “not writable”.
As I assume no further suggestions beyond the ones already provided in the link, exist, this is simply me 'reporting' the error. However, I'm still open to any further suggestions.

Hello,
Thanks for the detailed description of the issue. Our bug tracker has opened an issue that happens on macOS: TBX-10297.
The warning about “The installation path is not writable” is similar in this case, but is not normal behaviour and is not covered by the FAQ article you refer to.
The only workaround is:
Go to macOS System Settings → Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access. And give it full access to the Toolbox App.
I understand the reasons why this may not be acceptable to you. Could uninstalling and reinstalling possibly work for you?
(The settings for IDE will be saved.)
