updated app no longer works

The Toolbox app shows there is an update for  IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate so I update it. But the updated app fails to start, so I revert to the previous version and it works. Why?

 

MacOS v10.14.6, IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate 2023.2.6 → 2023.3.x

Hi @Chris Velevitch. Sorry for the inconvenience. Could you please specify what error you are facing when launching 2023.3.x?
