what is inside download folder and is it safe to delete?

I looked inside the toolbox folder after the 2.0 update
I noticed that there is a 3 gig folder called download located in ~/.local/share/JetBrains/Toolbox/download
I would like to know if it will be automatically cleaned or if its safe to manually delete stuff in it.
since the IDEs already take 6 gigs by themselves inside the Toolbox/apps folder, I want to save as much space as possible.

Thank you for your question. Download cache currently preserves files for three days.
You can safely remove this manually or via Toolbox App → Settings → Tools section → Clear download cache.
We also plan to improve the cache management feature in the next releases. Feel free to track the task in our tracker https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/TBX-8915
