The Toolbox doesn't show recent projects from WSL2
I have Toolbox version JetBrains Toolbox 2.4.2.32922, running on Windows 11, x64.
On my machine I'm using Intellij Ultimate 2024.2.3 backend with a connection to my WSL2 that is running Ubuntu 22.04.5. Both are freshly installed.
I have followed the guides to setup including the Firewall rule (which are not up-to-date for Windows 11, but I could manage to find the correct network adapter). I have opened a few projects and none of them are being shown in the Toolbox app as recent projects. From the Windows explorer, I am able to find my projects that are located in WSL
In the projects I have opened there is only one additional vmoption and that is the -Xmx.
The Toolbox logs only show an error about an invalid path for an OAuth token, nothing about WSL.
If I create a project on Windows itself, it is being shown in the Recent Projects list as local.
I also have tried to restart the Toolbox after I have opened a project to see if its a race condition.
What can I do to resolve this? Is there an additional setting I need to activate before this works?

Hello. Please try to close the project in Intellij Ultimate on your Ubuntu backend. After that, will the project appear in the Toolbox App?
No after closing it, it won't show up.
It is only present under Recent WSL projects when I open Intellij Ultimate itself.
Maybe it is relevant, but whenever I try to commit and push code. The Analysis code tool is running as a Commit and push check.
Whenever I get warnings or errors I can't view them, if I click them it will go to the Code Analysis tab and it says “No Messages”
Jmulder1987, we have released release 2.5 with this fix: TBX-13072.
Please let me know if it stops reproducing for you.
I updated as soon as possible, I now have versions:
JetBrains Toolbox 2.5.1.34629, Windows 11, x64 and
Intellij Ultimate 2024.2.4 with the same client.
Still no projects shown in Recent Projects:
I cleared my recent WSL projects, I uninstalled the gateway on Ubuntu, Ultimate and the Toolbox.
Reinstalled everything and opened a new project. There were some extra Firewall questions from Windows 11, I allowed those.
Restarted all the applications after the FW question.
The projects on WSL are selected on this path \\wsl.localhost\Ubuntu\
Is there anything left I can do to make this work? Because my only option left is to reinstall my Ubuntu completely, but I have no trust in it that that will help.
Sadly even after updating to Intellij Ultimate 2025.1, Toolbox version 2.6.1.40902, Windows 11, x64 and IDE backend 251.23774.435 I still don't see my WSL projects in my Toolbox projects.
I do see some extra providers now like SSH, Local and CodeCanvas. But I don't see any WSL option.
And all my projects withing WSL are not showing. If I open my Intellij from Toolbox and go to Remote Development → WSL; I do see my projects.
Please someone provide a fix for me, it's happening on multiple different installs on different machines. I would like to have this functionality back.
